CompTIA certification preparation courses
Whalley Computer Associates (WCA) clients have been asking for more technical training. WCA is proud to announce their partnership with Holyoke Community College with offering CompTIA training courses starting in fall 2015.
HCC/WCA will provide 3 different CompTIA courses:
- Security +
- Network +
All 3 classes are 5 days long and are being held at HCC campus.

Getting ready for a career as an entry-level information technology professional or personal computer service technician? The CompTIA A+ course will build on your existing knowledge and experience with personal computer software and hardware to present fundamental skills and concepts that you will use on the job. You will acquire the essential skills and information you will need to install, upgrade, repair, configure, troubleshoot, optimize, and perform preventative maintenance of basic personal computer hardware and operating systems. Prerequisites: experience with Microsoft Windows, basic knowledge of computing concepts and computer networks. An introductory course in a windows operating system or equivalent skills and knowledge is required.

6/6 to 6/10, 7/11 to 7/15, 8/1 to 8/5
CompTIA Security+ (Exam SYO-401) is the primary course you will need to take if your job responsibilities include securing network services, devices, and traffic in your organization. You can also take this course to prepare for the CompTIA Security+ certification examination. In this course, you will build on your knowledge of and professional experience with security fundamentals, networks, and organizational security as you acquire the specific skills require to implement basic security services on any type of computer network. Prerequisites: to ensure your success in your course, you should possess basic Windows user skills and a fundamental understanding of computer networking concepts. CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications, or equivalent knowledge, and six to nine months experience in networking, including configuring security parameters, are strongly recommended. Additional introductory courses or work experience in application development and programming, or in network and operating system administration for any software platform or system are helpful, but not required.

The CompTIA Network+ (Examn10-005) course builds on your existing knowledge and experience with personal computer operating systems and networks to present the fundamental skills and concepts you will need to use in any type of networking career. Prerequisites: To ensure your success, you will need basic Windows end-user computer skills. In addition, we highly recommend that you hold the CompTIA A+ certification, or have equivalent skills and knowledge.
