Reliability Testing
The object of our Reliability Testing process is to create an environment that will cause as many of the infant failures inherent in many electronic products to occur in our testing facitlity before they are shipped to the customer. This assures that the customer receives a product that is significantly less likely to fail and cause lost productivity. It is also equally important that the process not shorten the life of the product nor increase the likelihood of late-in-life failures. WCA is one of the few companies in New England that has this capability. With nearly twenty years experience and the knowledge gained from data on hundreds of thousands of units, WCA is uinquely equipped to provide this valuable service.
In the early 1990s Whalley Computer Associates invested in the construction of an Environmental Stress Screening Chamber (ESS) to reduce infant failures of mission-critical technology products. By altering the temperature between 42 and 104 degrees farenheit while simultaneously running programs to vigorously increase the workload of the device, the vast majority of infant failures are detected in a fraction of the time that would be required under normal conditions.
WCA applies this process to qualify every component under consideration for use in any server or server appliance that we design and build in our OEM Production Division. This process is used on each completed unit as well. To learn more about the product development capabilities of our OEM Production Division, select this link.
We have continuously enhanced this process over the past fifteen years so that every possible failure will be detected in the ESS Chamber before it enters the customer's production environment. This proceedure provides a cost effective way to assure that the OEM servers and server appliances which we build are among the most reliable units produced anywhere within our industry.
