| In 1983, at age sixteen, Thomas began his career at Whalley Computer Associates. A “once in a lifetime student” in John Whalley’s computer science class, Thomas began writing custom software for Whalley Computer Associates’ customers. He began programming innovative custom software applications that allowed area schools and businesses to automate their procedures. The School Financial Package, along with a manufacturing and distribution software package were major factors in the rapid growth during Whalley Computer Associates early years.
Thomas became WCA’s first full time programmer in 1986. He also created the software that Whalley Computer Associates depended on to expand its business and still uses to run its business today. Our WCA software customers were some of our first customers. They utilized our full range of services and still remain amongst our most loyal customers to date.
In 1990, as our software development business grew, WCA increased its programming staff to four and Thomas became our first programming manager.
In 1994, Whalley Computer Associates’ explosive growth made logistics our biggest challenge. Thomas was promoted to Vice President of Operations. His brilliant organizational mind combined with an exceptional ability to focus on details brought Whalley Computer to a new level of efficiency.
In 1995, Thomas’s role was expanded to include the leadership of our EMC
Division.
